Not a profile page nobody visits. These are the same states, pins and expiry rules the rest of the map runs on, with your place answering for itself instead of being guessed at.
Quiet to packed, out of cash to working again, chosen from the same list everybody else reads. Add a line of your own if it needs one, say how long it holds, and it clears itself when that runs out. One tap on the way past, which is the only reason anybody keeps it up to date.
The things that are always true. A week of opening hours, a picture of the place, and a link to what you serve, all sitting on your pin so nobody walks over at six to find you shut at five.
A quiz night, a launch, a two-hour special. It goes on the map at a place and a time, people RSVP, and it is waiting under Upcoming for everyone nearby on the day.
The reviews and reports already being filed about your place, in one feed rather than found by accident. You can file your own the moment something changes: the card machine is down, the cash is out, it is working again.
Claiming
Anyone can add a place to Cite. Only its owner gets to speak for it, which is why nobody is approved by a script.
Search for it by name. If it is not on the map yet, add it in the app first and it will be there to claim.
By hand, every time, so the person setting your status is you and not somebody two streets over. You get an email either way, and a reason if it is not a match.
From a browser, on whatever you already have open behind the counter. No app to install, no dashboard to learn: it is one screen, and the thing you came to change is the first thing on it.
Pricing
No tiers to compare and no year to commit to. Claiming costs nothing; you pay when your place starts speaking for itself.
Standard
$30/month
Your status, hours and menu on the map, and events at your place. Cancel it from the same screen you started it in.
Sponsored placement
$15/week
A bigger pin with your own line under it, such as 2-for-1 patties till 4, for seven days. Only three places are sponsored in any one area, on campus or off, and the line is read before it goes up. An add-on to Standard, not a plan on its own.
Ticketed events
3% of the door, after the night
Run a ticketed event on Cite and check people in at the door with the app. Guests pay you directly, and Cite never handles ticket money. Afterwards we bill 3% of the value of the tickets checked in at your door: at least J$100, and never more than J$300,000 for one event. Not charged yet. We will tell organisers before it starts.
The plan and placements are in US dollars, and the event fee is billed in Jamaican dollars. Cite sells them and HandyPay processes the card, so your receipt and card statement show Cite. A status set on a lapsed account does not reach the map, and the dashboard says so rather than taking the tap.
Organisations
Everything above is built for a business with a place: a café, a pharmacy, a shop with a queue and a card machine that sometimes goes down. That is one claim, one status, one owner.
A university with a hundred buildings, or a chain with fifteen branches across Kingston, is a different shape of problem: many places under one roof, staff who come and go, and things worth saying to a whole campus at once. We are building toward it rather than pretending it is here, so the way in is a conversation.
